Minutes for August 3, 2006

Council Meeting held at Lehigh University Packard Lab Room 324

 

 

Bernie Telatovich called meeting to order at 6:09 pm

 

1. Roll Call of Attendees

2. Minutes

           

      June 2006 meeting was confined to election of 2006-2007 officers.

 

3. Treasurer Report

 

     No report.

 

4. Engineers Week Banquet- February 2007

 

  1. SME is 2007 “Sponsor” of Engineer’s Week

  2. At our September meeting we will solidify banquet format, location, and speaker.

  3. Project Management Schedule- No report at this time.

  4. Banquet Reservations- Michele and Bernie will put together costs for the 2007 banquet. Two concepts for our 2007 banquet were presented. The first is to reserve the Da Vinci Center, cater the dinner, and use their facility as a program. Dinner would be in the main hallway and awards and speaker would be presented in their Grand Room. The second concept would be same as last year in that we would rent a facility and book dinner. Michele to get information on Da Vinci Center and Bernie to get prices from Candlelight, the Meadows, and Lehigh’s Mt. Top Campus. Don will get information from Silver Creek Country Club regarding banquet reservation.

  5. Speaker- Bernie will contact Keith (Keith is a member of SME) to get ideas on who may be interested, from the SME profession, in speaking at the banquet. Bernie will contact Stephen Maund, SME Chapter President for possible banquet speakers. Don suggested we might want to contact Lehigh’s new president since this would help give her “exposure” to our engineering community.

  6. EPBJ- No report required at this time.

  7. Sponsorships- A novel idea (at least to LVEC) was presented by Michele that in addition to our “corporate (gold and silver) sponsors” we seek benefactors to sponsor individual items at the banquet such as the open bar, place settings, hor dervures, dessert items, etc. This idea will be explored and expanded at our next meeting.

  8. Banquet Program- No report required at this time..

  9. Cost per Seat- This will be finalized at November meeting.

  10. Engineer of the Year- No report required at this time.

  11. Invitations- No report required at this time.

  12. Proclamations- No report required at this time.

 

 

 

 

5. Other LVEC Activities

 

1.       Future Cities- No report at this time.

2.       Math Counts- No report at this time.

3.       LVSTEM Conference- Scheduled for Thursday, November 10th at 6:30 pm. Location at Lehigh campus is Neville Auditorium. LVEC to sponsor and provide manpower assistance.

 

6. Website

 

     Agnes has yet to be paid. LVEC owes her $300.00. Bob to contact Tom to let him know to

  send check to Agnes.

 

7. Activities of Member Societies

 

      None scheduled until September.

 

8. Old Business

 

      Bob to present Master Plan and hold discussion at September meeting.

 

9. New Business

 

      We will “brainstorm” getting new people to help us manage LVEC.
